Perozo Lab members win awards at the 2025 Gateway Ion Channel Symposium
Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from the Perozo Lab went to Northwestern University to attend the 2025 Gateway Ion Channel Symposium
This July, several members of the Perozo Lab attended the Gateway Ion Channel Symposium in Chicago, Illinois. The event brings together leading scholars and emerging researchers in the field of ion channel biology. “I had an exciting week at the Gateway Ion Channel Symposium 2025. The symposium featured many outstanding talks, including an inspiring presentation by Juan Du on TRPM ion channels.”, said Dr. Richa Agrawal.
While PhD student Patrick Haller presented a short talk on prestin-membrane mechanotransduction, also graduate student Zhen Tong got to introduce insights into the HERG S4-S5 linker on a study written in collaboration with postdoctoral Adam Feher and other authors.
Postdoctoral researchers Naileth Gonzalez-Sanabria & Gustavo Contreras, Richa Agrawal, and graduate student Noelle Robert had posters selected for presentation at the symposium’s poster session. Both Noelle Robert and Dr. Richa Agrawal were awarded poster winner positions.
“I had the opportunity to present my research on electromechanical coupling in Shaker potassium ion channel and received thoughtful feedback from peers who visited my poster. I was honored to receive a poster award. Many thanks to my mentors and collaborators for their invaluable support!”, said Dr. Richa Agrawal, poster winner. “This was the first conference I’ve presented my PhD work in, which provided an intimate setting to have intriguing discussions with experts in ion channels”, added PhD student Noelle Robert.
